The Gates family are about to welcome their third baby, and they couldn't be more excited. With two big sisters and parents as cool and fun as these, this little guy is going to be smiling nonstop! Can't wait to meet him!
San Pedro is my hometown.
I've always said that San Pedro is just an old fashioned small town, disguised as a Los Angeles suburb. Families all know each other, friends from elementary school are your friends for life, and memories are made by the cliffs, the loading docks, and in little spots like Averill Park.
So when I found out Vanessa and Bryan would be getting married in Averill Park, and having their reception on 7th Street in downtown San Pedro, I couldn't have been more thrilled. I knew it would be the kind of event that everyone wants to attend- the kind of wedding that feels like a family reunion, even for those who have never met.
I was so right.
Congratulations, Vanessa and Bryan- I can't thank you enough for letting me a part of this day.
I know you have years of memories to make together in this special place.
Her name means "poetry" in Sanskrit. I couldn't imagine a more fitting description of this sweet little girl with Indonesian and Hindu roots. And with happy, active twin older brothers, she will undoubtedly be the sweet, gentle poem in this family.
We love you, little Kavya.
This little family received this session as a gift, and it came with perfect timing. They are moving from sunny California to the Midwest, which I hear has actual seasons. So they really wanted to take some time to preserve the memories of basking in the sun and playing in the sea.
I hope when you are braving the chilly Midwest winters, you can pull out these photos and remember what it felt like to have your toes in the sand and the ocean breeze in your hair.
Her grandmother has crocheted a money bag for every bride in their family. Adrianne's took her almost two years.
Her father cried when he saw that Adrianne's mother's wedding dress was used on her bouquet.
When Todd saw her for the first time in her wedding dress, I asked him, "Doesn't she look beautiful?" and he replied, "NO. Beautiful doesn't even begin to describe her."
They had a handwashing ceremony, to symbolize the purity and new beginning they now have.
They also had a ring warming ceremony, where every guest held their wedding rings and said a blessing or a wish for them in their new life.
Guests wrote wishes for them on postcards, which will be mailed to the couple throughout the first year of their marriage.
Bridesmaids each wore bracelets with personal quotes, gifts from the bride.
Their first dance was on a platform above the reception, and the maid of honor watched in awe of her dear friend and her journey.
After all the sentimental moments of the day, they danced the night away among flowergirls, grandfathers, friends, and family.
Congratulations, Adrianne and Todd, on a fabulous start to what I know will be a wonderful marriage.
