I just saw this gorgeous little family six months ago. Little Lila was practically a newbie. Meeting again just before her first birthday, I am reminded how quickly time flies with our children. I am reminded of how their chubby little hands feel as they grip our pinky finger. I am reminded of how it feels when they finally hit that first year mark, and we look back and can't believe the first year is over.
Let's remember to document every little step, every little toe.
Happy first birthday, beautiful little Lila!
Katey is a vintage lover, super sweetheart, and avid swing dancer, and wanted a fun beach Pin Up session. We enlisted the magical makeup talents of Ceci de la Hoya, and went down to Sunset Beach to play. From the pretty light to the perfect vintage VW bus that just happened to be parked nearby to the lifeguard stand... it was a dream.

This little family received this session as a gift, and it came with perfect timing. They are moving from sunny California to the Midwest, which I hear has actual seasons. So they really wanted to take some time to preserve the memories of basking in the sun and playing in the sea.
I hope when you are braving the chilly Midwest winters, you can pull out these photos and remember what it felt like to have your toes in the sand and the ocean breeze in your hair.
I have been waiting for over a year for Adrienne to come and play on the beach with me. I've always been inspired by her- not only her physical beauty, but her expression, her heart.
We shot these images on the sand four days before she got on a plane today to pursue her dreams in New York City.
It's a really special thing to see someone take the first steps toward a journey and a life you know is their destiny.
Adrienne, we all know this is your path. We are here cheering you on from the West Coast, and we cannot wait to see you fly.
They started off their day at the St. Regis in Monarch Beach. Then they took their party to the water, where it belonged. A few hiccups in the day pushed the ceremony timing back, which resulted in a fiery sunset breaking through their first kiss. Sometimes moments are crafted by something other than us, and they happen just as they are meant to.
Stephanie and Josh- may the entirety of your marriage be as fun and hilarious as your wedding day, and may you always celebrate with your toes in the sand.
Special thank you to coordinators at The Gal, The Plan, The Wedding.
2012 has been an absolutely jam-packed-crazy-busy-lose-my-mind kinda year. Through it all, I have had such incredibly patient, sweet, understanding, and grateful clients, that I can't help but want to pay that gratitude forward.
For the first time EVER, I am going to be offering a special Black Friday deal. You don't have to wake up at 6am, or fight crowds of sleep-deprived turkey hangover zombies to get the perfect gift.
I'll be offering a one hour photo session for $150, including the digital download of images. That's more than 40% off the regular session fee! And, even better- it's being offered as a gift certificate!
Once you purchase the session, you'll receive an actual gift certificate in the mail, which you can keep and redeem yourself, or choose to give to someone you love. It's the most perfect gift for that family you know hasn't had a family photo in forever, for your sister who's expecting her first baby and doesn't think maternity photos are a priority, your mom and dad who just want pictures of the grandkids.
See how cute it is? They'll love to open this on Christmas morning!
Okay, so here's how it's gonna work:
1. The deal is for a One Hour on-location photo session- valid for any on location portrait session (excluding pinup, wedding, or newborn). It can be used on location for a group of up to five people, and redeemable in all of 2013, subject to availability.
2. The deal will be offered only on the Facebook page, from time of posting on Friday 11/23/12 until midnight PST that day. It will be listed as a regular status update, and those who want to purchase must comment on the status update with their email address. Invoices will be sent to that email address, and must be paid before midnight on Saturday 11/24/12, or the session will be invalid.
3. There are a limited number of these sessions available. I can't tell you how many, but it will be limited.
This is the only special I am presenting through the rest of the year- so please act quickly! I want to make sure you don't miss out!
Thank you again to all my clients- for enjoying my work, for being incredibly patient as this business has grown, and for coming back to me as your own families grow.

I really do feel so honored and privileged when a family returns to shoot with me again. This family is so fabulous- so fun, so real, so comfortable and up for anything (hello, standing in the waves!). Their children remind me of the dynamic with my own three kids. What a delight to see these three kids squeeze each other, laugh and play together, and tell me how much they love each other. Mom and Dad, you are definitely doing something right.
Enjoy these treasures from our day at the beach- I dare you not to smile.
I love California. Almost as much as I love this family.
We spent some time at the Bolsa Chica wetlands, then we hopped across the street to Sunset beach to watch the sun go down.
It was a beautiful day.
So, are you booking your ticket to Cancun yet? No? Well here, let me help you with that.
Dana and Anthony did all of the planning from here in California, entrusting the details to the planners at the resort. They couldn't have been in better hands. Every detail, every small piece of the day was spectacular. Not only was every part of this reception wonderful, love-filled, and heartfelt (right down to the flowergirl falling asleep in Grandpa's arms), but these guys can party. No, really. You know that party in high school you wish you were cool enough to get invited to? That was this party. There was actually another (perfectly nice, albeit quiet) wedding happening at the same time further down the beach... and I'm pretty sure a few of those guests snuck over just to move it on our dance floor. It was that fun. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE was up and dancing. Every age, every background, no excuses.
Get up and CELEBRATE. Words to live by, no?
I can't even thank you enough, Dana and Anthony, for taking me on this amazing journey with you. I wish you a marriage as loving and joyful as the time you spent together on this beach.
